Project Update / February 12, 2025

Excerpt: The Hut is proud to launch BehindTheHut, a new video series that brings insights into the pressing issues in disaster risk reduction (DRR).

The series debuts with four episodes titled “Early Warnings, Big Challenges, and the Future of DRR”, featuring distinguished experts from The Hut who share their perspectives on the evolving landscape of disaster preparedness and resilience.

In this exclusive video series, we engage with leading voices in meteorology, climate science, and risk management, including:

  • Brian Golding, Senior Research Fellow in Weather Impacts, Met Office
  • Guido Rianna, Scientist, CMCC
  • Harpa Grímsdóttir, Icelandic Meteorological Office, DEM6
  • Marcel Hürlimann, UPC, DEM2

Together, they discuss the challenges and opportunities in early warning systems, the increasing complexity of disaster scenarios, and the technological advancements shaping the future of DRR.

BehindTheHut explores the connections between research, policy, and real-world impact. Through in-depth interviews, we bridge expert knowledge and public understanding, fostering conversations on disaster resilience.

Stay tuned for the release of BehindTheHut and join us in exploring how science and innovation are transforming the way we predict and mitigate disasters.
